The Hip Hop

To address the Hip Hop becomes essential the rescue, briefly, of the origins of funk, because this form of music emerged from the black American music, "Rhythym and Blues", labeled as "race music" to the popular taste of fall young white Americans.

There was from the 30's, a great migration of blacks living in the South, to the urban centers of the northern United States who needed work.
During this period the Blues absorbs electric instruments giving rise to Rhythm 'n Blues, which consequently mixes with the Protestant gospel music, resulting in "Soul”. In the 60's, the Soul becomes the song of protest movements for civil rights for blacks, becoming a "black music" American.
In a real fight for citizenship, they begin to use the word "funky" (smelly), much used by his attackers. Thus, the funky becomes a form of attitude and black identity in dress, speech, dance, finally live.

In the following decade, the 70's, the media in Brazil appropriates this style and it happens to markets, designing the "Black Power" Gerson King Combo style.
A kind of Brazilian James Brown. The Rio de Janeiro, by concentrating the greatest mass media of the time, large crowds teams sounds, like the "Soul Grand" and "Furacão 2000", performing with great balls in the south suburbs of the city. The press dubbed this the black pride movement of "Black Rio", entering in the 80's shaking clubs, discotheques and nightclubs in major Brazilian cities.

In the United States, in parallel, in New York and Detroit, was going a reaction to the Black Power movement.
Begins to emerge one of the first aesthetic elements of Hip Hop culture: RAP (Rhythm And Poetry). With the creation and slowed trade CDs (compact disc), the American middle class begins to undo his turntables vinyl, then unemployed youth collect and recycle, producing new sounds with these vinyls, creating the "stracting "that is scratch the needle on the vinyl disc in a counterclockwise direction, the" phasing ", changing the rotation of the disk, and the" needle rocking "the production of eco between two pickup trucks.
Thus is launched the music, or rather base, the "break beats" rap. These DJs (disc jockeys) produce their sounds in the streets and alleys, thus providing the appearance of the Hip Hop movement, which began to unite the break dance, rap, graffiti, and b-boy style (b-girl) with its sports brands.

The Hip Hop arrives in Brazil, coming from Florida (USA),with the pace "Miami Bass", music with fast beats and eroticized, but the pace here was called "Funk", a return to the previous movement.

Two strands will appear in this style that has just come to low-income communities. Watch a demand of media production, mass culture, led by a group of people who seek profit with this production, offering the people a form of fun and spending time.
While the other strand, Hip Hop, proposes an action of political and social protest for citizenship. The term Hip Hop has its etymology in the dances of the 70's, where it bounced (hop) and moved her hips (hip). But there are also records that have been created by Afrika Bambaataa (Kevin Donovan).

The Rap (Rhythm And Poetry) has its origin in "Sound Systems" in Jamaica, widely used there in the 60's, a sort of car audio where the "toaster" (as the current MC) addressing socio-cultural issues and politicians of his people.
In search of work, in the 70's, these toasters have migrated to the United States, and there contributed to the emergence of Rap. With the Language of Rap new singers appeared, musical groups and MCs, very important in funk dances and presentations of Rap.

The Break Dance is an artistic language in Hip Hop practiced by b-boys and b-girls, the worshipers of sports brands. This dance style emerged with the collapse of stock markets of the United States in 1929, when happens a mass unemployment.
American cabaret artists took to the streets, do their song and dance numbers, in search of money. Hence arises the "Street Dance" (Street Dance), but with an aesthetic that time itself. The dance break is based on the performance of the dancer in its ability to catch and break the light and continuous movements. It is a specific aesthetic within the Street Dance which has characteristic coping, protest and / or group performance, but allowing any given time of the presentation someone can improvise with his ability to break dance.

Another outstanding artistic expression in the Hip Hop movement is the "Graffiti", this is because the emergence of Hip Hop graffiti served to demarcate lanes, walls and trains in big cities. With the essence of the Hip Hop movement in the 80's, these demarcations were turning into true works of art murals. Today there is a distinct difference between graffiti as an art and graffiti as vandalism and illegal. The Hip Hop movement has been respected by a large portion of Brazilian society. Merit achieved by conscious leaders of this movement in Brazil.
